The founder of Milu Beauty spent nearly a decade working for the Perfumes and Cosmetics Division of Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy Inc. in New York, NY. We take this rich education in the production and distribution of luxury perfumes and cosmetics and intertwine it with old remedies to cure, heal, soften and soothe the body and soul.
Our founder, Erika Carpenter, is a dual American/Australian citizen. Her grandmother grew up in Latvia before fleeing to Australia as a refugee during WWII. Erika has used the influence of these cultures, a pinch of her grandmother’s beauty secrets, and combined them with her own experiences working around the world to create our products, tell a story, and share a moment with you. Milu is the Latvian word for "love" and all of our products are made with Milu

A Milu Moment:
Our founder visited the Baltics in 2005, post Soviet invasion, retracing her roots. In rural Latvia, she discovered that many people wallpapered their homes with newspaper, finding a way to turn a drab wall into an artistic display. We are inspired that people find a way to make things in life beautiful, especially in such circumstances. As a nod to this culture and this memory, all Milu soaps are wrapped in specially treated newspaper. Newspapers are carefully kept and selected from places Erika has worked and lived; Melbourne, Australia, New York, London, San Francisco, Aspen, Co., Sydney and Chicago. Each soap is hand wrapped in bespoke packaging.
